Upcoming Events: National Drive Electric Week

Fall is nearly upon us, and that means National Drive Electric Week is coming once again! Events were largely cancelled in 2020 due to covid, but this year many of them are back. Dozens of events are spread all over the country from September 25 to October 3, where EV owners can show off their cars (and motorcycles) to anyone who is interested in electric vehicles. New car dealers are also sometimes in attendance with the latest EV models. Depending on the event, you can find information booths and literature, and always plenty of EV owners willing to share their experiences and answer your questions. Best of all, these events are totally free! For a full listing of events all across the country, and to register to attend for a chance to win a $250 Visa gift card, visit DriveElectricWeek.org. Here on Electric Route 66 I will give you a rundown of the National Drive Electric Week events that are being held on or near Route 66.

Drive Electric Week, Las Vegas 2019

Aurora, Illinois
October 2, 10:30am - 3:30pm
Fox Valley Mall
195 Fox Valley Center Dr.
This event is being held at a mall just a few miles from Route 66. The location should get it quite a few attendees. Over 20 vehicles are already registered for display as of September 12.

St. Louis, Missouri
September 19, 10am - 2pm
Ritz Park
3147 S. Grand Blvd.
Metro Transit is hosting an electric bus event on the weekend before Drive Electric Week begins, where you can board one of Metro's new electric buses, and learn about EVs from experts with local EV organizations. There will be free giveaways and bus passes as well!

Tulsa, Oklahoma
October 2, 10am - 1pm
Meadow Gold Sign on Route 66
1324 E. 11th St.
This event is being held right on historic Route 66 at the giant restored Meadow Gold sign. It coincides with the Meadow Gold District's Shop 66 Saturday featuring food, displays and shopping, and Tulsa Area Clean Cities is host for local clean energy and sustainability companies and information. Local EV owners will have cars on display, and local dealers will be providing new vehicles for test drives!

Albuquerque, New Mexico
September 25, 10am - 1pm
ABQ BioPark, south parking lot near 12th
903 10th St. SW
The Albuquerque event already has over 30 EVs registered to attend, including interesting vehicles like the Cadillac ELR plug-in hybrid, and the Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle. EV rides for attendees are also touted as a feature of this event.

Jurupa Valley, California
October 3, 10am - 2pm
Vernola Marketplace, south parking lot near Fitness 19
6429 Pat's Ranch Rd.
This event is a few miles south of Route 66, at the Vernola Marketplace shopping center next to I-15 in Jurupa Valley. Owners will be on hand to show their cars and help attendees learn about driving electric.

Las Vegas, Nevada
September 25, 10am - 2pm
Springs Preserve
333 S. Valley View Blvd.
Although not on Route 66, I have included the Las Vegas event because this is the one we will be attending! Our Tesla Model 3 "The Blue Spirit" and our Chevy Spark EV "Sparky Sparky Boom Car" will both be there, along with dozens of other EVs including new models from Ford and VW. Nearly 50 cars are already registered to attend with owners ready to answer questions, and there will be information about EVs and solar power from local organizations and sponsors. We always have a great time at this annual event and we hope you can join us!

Even if you don't live near Route 66 or near one of these events, I encourage you to visit DriveElectricWeek.org to see if there is an event happening near you!
